i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on why my internet disconnects whenever I play any type of steam game (half life 2, half life 2: ep1, death match, etc). the wireless card i have is kinda crappy (level one is the company) and thats what i figure it is for now, i kinda was shoe horned into buying it, but i am willing to drop the extra money on a better one if it would help. also i have another question about my graphics card. the problem is i have a geforce 7950gt, and i use a utility called ati tool to monitor the cards temperature. the stock cooling system on the card sucks, and when im playing games it says that the card gets up to about 80-90 degrees Celsius. i know that the cards nowadays come with fail safes that shut of the card if there is a chance of damage, but im still a little worried wether or not prolonged use at these temperatures will lower the life of my card. thanks to anyone who answers
Internet problem with half life or any other steam game?
Im almost 100% sure that the reason you keep losing your internet connection is because of the wireless card.
I had a PC in my house with the same problem, switched to a rj-45 cable and problem solved. You need to get ride of that wireless card and use a cord instead.
Its wierd that your graphics card is so hot, maybe you need to do a little dusting in your pc, but here are a few suggestions:
- you can buy a pci slot fan (around $10) they fit right next to your graphics card and they push all the hot air out of your computer case.
- replace your rear case fan. fans that come with your pc stock arnt very powerfull, if you buy a name brand case fan (like antec) it will blow an unholy amount of air out of your case.
- last resort =%26gt; i doubt you will need to do this but maybe you need a new pc case (alot of work, i know). for around 40-60$ you can get a case with lots of holes for extra case fans (mine has 4) this is a very good solution. my 8800 GTS graphics cards temps are 59- 67 celsius.
