Why do people do this?

I work at a "big box" retail store. I stock shelves and help customers, but the BIGGEST part of my job is cleaning up the messes customers make. They try on shoes and then just throw them all over the floor, sometimes even in different aisles. Then I have to pick them up and try to find the right boxes to put them back. Then someone else does the same thing!


Why do people do this? Do they live this way at home? It seems to me that it is not very difficult to just put something back where you found it, after you are done with it.


Any ideas?

Sorry to say Susan but they are lazy and self centered. And believe me they would not like it if someone did that in their home or place of work ! They have either never been taught to have respect for others or other peoples things. They have no pride and it shows ! Unfortunately they will never learn.

Reply:Because they are rude, inconsiderate idiots like Shanla and Phadima, who feel that it's someone else's job to clean up after them, so they don't have to do it. I can only feel sorry for people who are so small, that they feel this is their only power in the world, to make a mess that someone else has to clean up. I wonder how they would feel if someone did that to them at their job.
Reply:I know what you mean. I am in a wheelchair and that annoys me lots. It gets in my way when I try to pass aisles. It really doesn't matter where you put it when you are done really. Lol. As long as it isn't on the floor, at least it should be back on the shelf.

Everyone feels that they are entitled to do as they wish and tend to have no thought about the people around them.


If we can reverse this trend, I'd feel better for the future...

I don't know if it matters to you but please know that there are some of us still out there who try to put things back where we picked them up.

Reply:Some people are just inconsiderate. some people actually do take the time to put stuff back but other just dont and they teach their kids that and the cycle continues. it wont end.
Reply:They are lazy and don't care about anybody but themselves. I too, do the same thing at work that you do. I however look at these type of people as "job security". As long as lazy people continue to shop in stores, we will have work. Yippee
Reply:They are lazy...I too work in a larger retail store and when I'm shopping elsewhere I always put my stuff away because I know how hard it is to clean up after people. I even catch myself facing aisles!! Sad eh?


It does make you wonder how they live at home though...you should see what they do to our bathrooms!!!
Reply:Some of them do not care about someone else property, they have no respect ,they are selfish and lazy.





Unfortunately there is nothing that you or anyone can do about this. I know people that are tidy at home but when it comes to someone else stuff they have no care for it !
Reply:They feel that your being paid to clean up after them. They are shopping while leaving you with a mess. They know it's not their job to pick anything up. So they figure out that it must be your job to do it. It's simple. They're all crazy.
Reply:They think since they are buying something,they don't have to be tidy and it is not being lazy,its a low life attitude. Do you think they would be in a store doing this if shoes cost $300.00 and up? These pigs are also the non toilet flushers!
Reply:You could try asking the management to put up signs saying, "Please put shoes back after trying on" or something similar.
Reply:BECAUSE THEY ARE LAZY!!! there's no better definition for them. There's no cosmic reason, the reason "because it's your job", isn't a reason. We can call them dumb and say that they just don't know what to do once those shoes come out that box. Wow i guess someone should have been clever enough to come with a viable solution for returning shoes to the box that they once sat in, hmmm.... Laziness, that's all it is. Retail isn't fun and I think you got one of the hardest jobs there is.....dealing directly with public.

like when ppl leave clothes in the drssing room all over the floor they kno they dont HAVE to put it up because someone else has to do it.
Reply:Ha, ha! And I thought only people in my country do such things. Looks like my country is not alone. One word: LAZINESS
Reply:Because that is your job. It is the discretion of your customers to decide on whether to be nice or just leave it to you.
Reply:Sorry but if you didn't have customers like that you might not have a job. If you have nothing to do then why would the store pay you to be there. Just helping to keep you employed.




buying
